Who: Some say the stacks are the perfect place to find a date but pickup artists beware, some folks are really there just to read.

What: Powell's flagship store on E. Burnside occupies a whole city block containing 68,000 square feet of bookshelves containing over a million books. This is one the largest bookstores in the world, but, if for some reason you can't find the book you are looking for, they'll track it down for you.

Why: Book signings and readings are serious business at Powell's and big-time authors regularly stop here on book tours, or just to spend time with their adoring literate Portland fans.
