What: Named after the first dog to be shot into space (and perhaps the inspiration for Arcade Fire's song of the same name), Laïka is a chameleon of a café. Morphing from morning coffee spot to hip lunch hangout to nighttime club/lounge, this is one Montreal hotspot that refuses to be pigeonholed. Enjoy food and drink throughout the day, and you may find that Laïka really does resemble the dog for which it was named. After all, it's a Montrealer's best friend.

Why: Come for a café-au-lait, stay well into the night for a little cruising, boozing and schmoozing.
