About: Cole's - Originators of the French Dip by

Who: Old guard and new guard downtowners and those in search of the perfect French Dip.

What: French baguette, warm, thin slices of meat and a dip to go with it: genius. This famous staple that's been around since before the World Wars has even landed itself in a couple of movies. Once you get a taste, you'll never stop.

Why: Cole's holds its own on 6th, but Phillipe's near Union Station says the dip is its claim to fame, too. (Competition just makes everything taste better.)

That spicy musturd is... quite spicy. But the meat is good and the sandwich stands on its own without the need to dip it that much.
