We were eager to jump into the food offerings, but first, a cocktail. Our server was delightful and always ready to describe the more unusual aspects of the drink and food menus. Her recommendations were consistently wonderful. We started with The Rising Tide, a lovely currant vodka and sparkling wine drink, and the Way out West, a rye drink that suited my scotch-loving companion. There were just two of us, so we decided we'd share each plate as it arrived. The salmon crostini was incredible. How can such a simple bite have such intricate flavors? We followed it with the Parisian gnocchi - amazingly flavorful, pan-seared trout - a fish we don't usually order - that was delicious along with the red quinoa and almond milk foam, the lamb saddle was so tasty, and the potato crisps with herbs were a nice touch. Unfortunately we were too full to sample dessert, but you can bet we'll be (Less)

If I dream of what Heaven is like, Brouwer's Cafe comes to mind. Beer snobs in Seattle, this is your mecca. The cafe is huge, two stories, and has an industrial/dark/modern feel to it. We sat at the bar, so we could drool over the 60+ beers on tap and their bottle selection behind the bar. It was hard choosing between sharing a bottle or having a beer on tap, and I went with the Russian River Supplication... (change of underwear here). To eat, I ordered the falafel sandwich which was divine. The falafel was soft, flavorful, slightly spicy, and topped with a fruit salsa on focaccia bread. (2nd change of underwear here). My boyfriend ordered the lamb burger which was so delicious, spicy, and large. Both came with fries, and we tried the bacon mayo and chipotle mayo dipping sauces, which both were okay. For the price and the spread that they offer -- traditional breakfast items, chef choice dishes, numerous salads and desserts, plus a separate menu with egg dishes and steak to order -- it is the best deal on the beach. They have a nice garden patio in the back that lends itself to great brunch dining. Easter, Mother's Day and Father's Day brunches are always a little more spectacular and really a great way to go for a nice occasion without all the fuss of other places. (Less)
